Why parents should sign and what happens when they do?
By signing this pledge, you commit to delaying smartphone access for your child until they are at least 14 years old. You can still provide a basic phone for calls and texts while adhering to the pledge, as these devices avoid many of the distractions and risks associated with smartphones.
The pledge is activated when five families from your child’s grade sign it. Once activated, Unplugged Canada will notify you and provide a list of the family surnames who have signed, allowing you to connect. Please note that no children’s names are required on the pledge. You may use initials or nicknames for your children’s first and last names if you prefer.
This network of like-minded families offers mutual support and reinforces your commitment.
Remember, there’s strength in numbers!
